Whitesnake - Fool For Your Loving

Fool for Your Loving is a song recorded by British hard rock band Whitesnake.
The song is from the band's 1980 album Ready an' Willing, but it was later re-recorded in 1989 for the album Slip of the Tongue.
Co-written by David Coverdale, Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody, the song was inspired by the breakup of Coverdale's first marriage.
In Firecracker magazine, Coverdale said: "You can look at my first marriage and see "Fool for Your Loving" and "Don't Break My Heart Again." A lot of those were fueled by songs about a relationship that once was very positive but sadly was unfolding into not positive."
It has also been rumored that the song was originally written for blues legend B. B. King.
The song was the first big hit of Whitesnake's, reaching #13 on the British charts and #53 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
This remains one of Whitesnake's most popular and well-known songs. David Coverdale has stated that he prefers the original to the 1989-version.
A music video was also made, which features the band performing the song live on stage.
The lyrics:
I was born under a bad sign
Left out in the cold
I'm a lonely man who knows
Just what it means to lose control

But, I took all the heartache
And turned it to shame
Now I'm moving moving on
And I ain't taking the blame

Don't come running to me
I know I've done all I can
A hard loving woman like you
Just makes a hard loving man

So, I can say it to you, babe
I'll be a fool for your loving, no more
A fool for your loving, no more

I'm so tired of trying I always end up crying
Fool for your loving, no more
I'll be a fool for your loving, no more

I'm tired of hiding my feelings
You left me lonely too long
I gave my heart and you tore it apart
Oh baby, you done me wrong

Don't come running to me
I know I've done all I can
A hard loving woman like you
Just makes a hard loving man

So, I can say it to you, babe
I'll be a fool for your loving, no more
A fool for your loving, no more

I'm so tired of trying I always end up crying
Fool for your loving, no more
I'll be a fool for your loving, no more
I'll be a fool for your loving no more, no more, no more

So, I can say it to you, babe
I'll be a fool for your loving, no more
A fool for your loving, no more

I'm so tired of trying I always end up crying
Fool for your loving, no more
A fool for your loving, no more

Fool for your loving no more

Whitesnake - Still Of The Night (live)

"Still of the Night" (also known as "In the Still of the Night") is a song by Whitesnake.
It was released as the fourth single and third track from their hugely successful self titled 1987 album. It reached #16 in the U.K., #18 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks and #79 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released on March 9, 1987.
In 2009 it was named the 27th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.
The song was written by lead singer David Coverdale and guitarist John Sykes, and proved to be one of the band's most popular songs.
It combines the blues origins of the band with the more distorted, harder sound driving the song, making for a powerful hard rock song.
The current Whitesnake lineup and John Sykes both play the song as their live encore.
In 2009, in an interview with Metal Hammer, Coverdale commented on the origins of the song: "When my mother died I was going through the stuff at her house and found some early demo cassettes. One of them was a song that Ritchie Blackmore and I had been working on which was the basic premise of what would become "Still of the Night". It was totally unrecognizable, so Ritchie doesn't have anything to worry about... neither do I! Ha ha ha! I took it as far as I could then I gave it to Sykesy when we were in the south of France, and he put the big guitar hero stuff on there. John hated blues so I had to work within those parameters. I manipulated to be electric blues, but how he performed it was fabulous for his time and relatively unique because of the songs. There were a lot of people doing that widdly stuff but they didn't have the quality of those songs."
A music video, featuring Coverdale's then future wife Tawny Kitaen, was shot for the song, and it was MTV's most requested video in its first week of release.
Whitesnake withheld licensing of "Still of the Night" for use in the video game Rock Revolution; a cover version of the song was subsequently featured in the game. The studio version later appeared as Rock Band DLC in 2012.
The Finnish symphonic metal singer Tarja Turunen covered the song for her album What Lies Beneath.
The lyrics:
In the Still of the Night
I hear the wolf howl, honey
Sniffing around your door
In the Still of the Night
I feel my heart beating heavy
Telling me I gotta have more

In the shadow of night
I see the full moon rise
Telling me what's in store,
My heart starts aching
My body started shaking
And I can't take no more, no, no

Now I just wanna get close to you
And taste your love so sweet
And I just wanna make love to you
Feel your body heat...

In the Still of the Night...
In the Still of the Night...
Over here baby...

In the heat of the day
I hang my head down low
And hide my face from the sun
Through the light of the day
Until the evening time
I'm waiting for the night to come, ooh, baby

In the Still of the Night,
In the cool moonlight,
I feel my heart is aching
In the Still of the Night...

Oooh Baby, Oooh baby

Solo

In the Still of the Night
I hear the wolf howl, honey
Sniffing around your door...
In the Still of the Night
I feel my heart beating heavy
Telling me I gotta have more...
Oooh, mama

Now I just wanna get close to you
And taste your love so sweet
And I just wanna make love to you
Feel your body heat.

In the Still of the Night...
In the Still of the Night...
In the Still of the Night...
In the Still of the Night...

Still of the Night,
Still of the Night,
Still of the Night...

Still of the Night,
Still of the Night,
Still of the Night...

Still of the Night,
Still of the Night,
Still of the Night...

Still of the Night,
Still of the Night,

Still of the Night...

Whitesnake - Is This Love

Is This Love is a power ballad by the English rock band Whitesnake.
The song is taken from their self-titled album, which released in 1987.
The song was written by vocalist David Coverdale and guitarist John Sykes during the albums early writing process (which took place in the south of France), but it was long rumoured that the song had originally been written for rock artist Tina Turner.
Coverdale confirmed these rumours in the booklet of Whitesnake's 20th anniversary edition, by saying: "Before I'd left [for the south of France] a friend at EMI had asked me for any ideas that would work for Tina Turner. So that was where the original idea for 'Is This Love' came from."
"Is This Love" became one of the most popular Whitesnake songs.
The song reached #87 on VH1's "100 Greatest Love Songs"-list and #10 on their list of "Greatest Power Ballads".
The single was a hit for Whitesnake, reaching number 9 in the UK Singles Chart and number 2 in the US singles chart, making it their second-biggest US hit after "Here I Go Again" which hit number 1. The single was reissued in 1994 to promote Whitesnake's Greatest Hits, and featured the song "Sweet Lady Luck" (which was previously only available as B-side to "The Deeper the Love"-single) and "Now You're Gone." This version reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart.
A music video was also made, featuring Coverdale's then-girlfriend actress Tawny Kitaen. The music video depicts the band playing the song on a misty stage, inter-cut with scenes of Coverdale singing, Kitaen dancing and the two of them together.
The Audio Thieves featuring Uniting Nations covered this song in their 2006 album Dance Cover.
Also in 2006, Thomas Anders covered the song for his album Songs Forever.
The song was also covered in 2012 by Canadian-American dance artist Stacey Jackson.
The lyrics:
I should have known better
Than to let you go alone
It's times like these
I can't make it on my own
Wasted days, and sleepless nights
An' I can't wait to see you again

I find I spend my time
Waiting on your call
How can I tell you, babe
My back's against the wall
I need you by my side
To tell me it's alright
Cos I don't think I can take it anymore

Is this love that I'm feeling
Is this the love that I've been searching for
Is this love or am I dreaming
This must be love
Cos it's really got a hold on me
A hold on me

I can't stop the feeling
I've been this way before
But, with you I've found the key
To open any door
I can feel my love for you
Growing stronger day by day
An' I can't wait to see you again
So I can hold you in my arms

Is this love that I'm feeling
Is this the love that I've been searching for
Is this Iove or am I dreaming
Is this the love that I've been searching for
Is this love or am I dreaming
This must be love
Cos ït's really got a hold on me
You really got a hold on me

I manipulated to be electric blues, but how he performed it was fabulous for his time and relatively unique because of the songs. There were a lot of people doing that widdly stuff but they didn't have the quality of those songs."
The song has been cited as sounding similar to Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog", a possible source of inspiration for Coverdale and Sykes.
The cymbal and hi-hat work, as well as the distorted guitar noise and Coverdale's moans in the breakdown of the song have also been noted to bear a resemblance to "Whole Lotta Love," yet another comparison to Led Zeppelin.
A music video, featuring Coverdale's then future wife Tawny Kitaen, was shot for the song, and it was MTV's most requested video in its first week of release. The video lends additional credence to the Led Zeppelin influence, as Adrian Vandenberg is seen using a violin bow prop during the midsection of the song, reflecting Jimmy Page's use of the bow during live performances of "Dazed and Confused".
Whitesnake withheld licensing of "Still of the Night" for use in the video game Rock Revolution; a cover version of the song was subsequently featured in the game.
